Portfolio: Priva/Gennera Knab & Co.
Priva did (and does) customized sites with full dynamic capabilities. I worked mostly on front-end development, writing the HTML and making sure the sites didn't break in various browsers.
TubLand
http://cv.jasonschupp.com/tubland/
XHTML/CSS, graphics creation, testing
One of the last projects I worked on during my time at GKC. Tubland is an e-commerce site GKC was looking to resurrect with a fresh design and new product. I was glad to receive this project, as we had hit the point where any new sites we created could be done solely in CSS for layout, discarding table-based design. Unfortunately, this project had to be shelved soon after, as other sites needed my attention before I left. GKC was kind enough to let me include here the work I had started, and also let me have access to the proofs so that I could continue to build the front end. The pages available for viewing are: index, decorator curtains, classic curtains, kids' curtains, pocketed curtains.
Diecast Car Collectors Zone
Maintenance, HTML/CSS, graphics creation, testing, article design, copy editing
The most popular (I'm told) community site for diecast car model collectors, the Diecast Zone was a site I maintained my whole time at GKC. It was in the midst of a redesign when I was hired, and one of my first jobs was overhauling all the code produced towards that end to be consistent, faster and cleaner. Other responsibilities included new section creation, article layouts, contest production and updating contest results, administration form production, making time-sensitive copy changes, and handling any other maintenance issues that came up.
Legacy Motors
Maintenance, HTML/CSS, graphics creation, testing
The e-commerce twin to the Diecast Zone, Legacy Motors was a small diecast model retail outfit that consistently saw better sales. There was something new to be added practically every month, and I handled maintenance and creation of new sections.
Danbury Mint Sports
http://www.danburymintsports.com/
Maintenance, HTML and graphics creation, testing
An e-commerce site for all of Danbury Mint's sports-themed collectibles. This behemoth existed by the time I came to GKC, and I was occasionally called upon to add new category pages and make changes to existing categories and to the check-out process. I also took the opportunity whenever I could to clean up old, bloated HTML.
Danbury Mint Online Service Center
http://www.danburymint-service.com/
Maintenance, graphics creation and testing
A customer service site for Danbury Mint. One of GKC's freelancers did the preliminary work on this site. I was brought in to test it for browser errors, both before and after the ASP coders got their hands on it. Once launched, I made fixes and changes as they came up.
Danbury Mint
Maintenance, testing
A portal to all of Danbury Mint's categorical sites. I actually had very little to do with this site until after it launched, but I provided fixes for browser errors that occurred when information changed.
TechOnCall
HTML/CSS and graphics creation, testing
In an effort to pull in more business, Priva teamed up with TechOnCall, using them as an outsourcer. Towards that end, this bit of brochureware was put together.
At the time this needed to be done, I had too many projects on my plate to build this out, so it was outsourced to a freelancer. Her final result seemed a little bloated to me, so on my off-time I re-did the site from scratch. In half the time she billed us for, I was able to come up with pages that were half the weight of what she provided.
Donald Zolan
HTML and graphics creation, testing
The portfolio/sales site of a popular children's artist. A coworker and I collaborated on this site, where I figured out some of the initial HTML layouts and he did the heavy lifting to complete the site. After launch, I would maintain it or fix things as necessary when new content was introduced.
Bally Jobs Employment Application Form
http://www.ballyjobs.com/application/
applicationform1.asp
HTML, testing
Bally wanted a way for potential employees to apply for available jobs without having to go to one of their various locations. An early attempt at complex form design, I took all the information on their application form and did the front-end work for a web-based version within the current site's design. I also designed a results page for the back-end, allowing Bally's HR department to review submission data.
Priva Prizm
XHTML/CSS and graphics creation, testing
Informational site about Priva's website visitation statistics analyzing program, Prizm. I collaborated with one of GKC's freelancers to produce the site from a set of comps to a working site within two or three days. I also lead the heavy blitz of browser testing that followed.
IMHO
(X)HTML/CSS and graphics creation (web and email versions), testing, copy editing, maintenance
Priva's now-and-again subscription newsletter. For each issue, two versions were created: a regular web page in XHTML 1.0 Transitional, and a slimmed down version in HTML 4.01 Transitional that went out to subscribers in an email.
Priva Banners
HTML and graphics creation, testing
A little presentation for examples of little bits of web real-estate designed by Priva. This was designed to be used in client meetings or sent to potential clients as a way to showcase GKC's 468x60 pixel skills.
Innovar Systems Ltd. Temporary Page
http://www.electricdevice.com/
XHTML/CSS and graphics creation, testing
A small, one-page ditty to hold them over until their site was ready.
